Gone are the days of buying pre-packed party décor–creating your own party decor is the best way to make your event stand out. We love the creativity that is going into todays birthday and holiday parties, baby and wedding showers, weddings and anniversary’s. Whether you are recreating a well-known theme, planning a unique theme, or going all out for a beautiful vintage wedding, having the right products makes the party come together.
Creating one-of-a-kind invitations is an effective way to set the theme of a party. Invites can be simple or elaborate and still do the trick. If you know your way around a computer, type in the party details and print to fit on 4”x6” paper. To back the invitation, choose one or more papers and adhere them together to create a layering effect. The combination of colors will help set the color theme.
Another way to personalize your invitations is by misting them with Tattered Angels paints, using the color(s) of your party, wedding or bridal shower. The paints react differently to various types of paper, making simple white invitations transform into pieces of art.
DIY Party Decor
Make every party special by creating a keepsake party banner with the theme or name of the celebration. These can be made in so many shapes and styles and truly set the tone for the event. Create them out of printed cardstock, fabric or a combination and string them together with a choice of cord, rope or ribbon. Attach them with coordinating clothespins for the finishing touch
We also offer a wide range of cut & sew items such as tote bags in all sizes that make the perfect party favor or kids craft project, canvas aprons in a range of colors that can be decorated and worn for a cooking or art themed party. You will also find a host of cut & sew basics that can be decorated for the party such as table toppers, table runners, banners, placemats and even coasters. Make the party as personal as you would like. Many of our items are available in burlap and canvas to better help fit the look and theme of your choice.
DIY Party Favors
As the guests walk out the door, leave them with a unique treat bag that will keep them talking about the amazing party. For a quick idea, give each attendee die-cut frames. Set up a photo-booth and take a photo at the party. Print out the photos before they leave and add it to the frame. Or, die cut unique boxes and fill them with fun little candies. One of our favorite ideas is mini popcorn boxes that are the perfect treat for a movie themed party.
Creative Uses for Paper
Our focus when it comes to party planning is to provide high quality basic supplies to bring your creative vision to life. Our wide range of printed cardstock allows one to mix and match to create versatile holiday and party decor. We believe in utilizing simple prints such as dots, stripes and chevron in a multitude of colors, mixing and matching the colors to create for each holiday or theme. There is no need to try and find paper with hearts, bunnies or Santa Clause on them, just mix and match the holiday colors and you are in your season.
Some of the simplest touches can give the party that special edge. We love to borrow tools from the scrapbooking and craft markets to create some of our favorite party décor and favors. Using a die cutting system like Accucut or Elison allows you to transform any solid or printed cardstock paper into amazing die cut shapes that are perfect for making party favors, treat boxes, custom cupcaske wrappers, custom shaped invitations, paper chargers, table top décor, party pennants, party hats, party fans and so much more.
We also love to use the Cricut Machines which make it so easy to die cut letters and shapes that are perfect for celebration banners, name tags, party straws, birthday signs, etc. You can own one or contact your local scrapbook or invitation store to see if they have one available for you to use. You will also find a wide range of supplies in your local craft and scrapbooking store such as paper punches, markers and craft glue (glue that actually glues things together – it is worth buying the right glue – we love Beacon’s 3 in 1 Glue).
